#32: National Park Patch Lady

Today’s podcast features Sandra from National Park Patch Lady.  Not only is she an incredible photographer, she has traveled to over 170 national parks and has a wealth of knowledge to share with us.  From best times to visit plus little know facts, join Ren, Cam, and Sandra as they chat about the places they’ve been.  Be sure to have a pen handy as you’ll want to remember to add these to your own Bucket List!

Drink of the Day

This episode’s drink of the day is Hanks Gourmet Black Cherry with Wishniak.

We love it when our guests give us recommendations and Sandra told us about HuHu Ginger Brew. We have been on the lookout and haven’t found a place that sells it near us yet.  If you know where we can find one (okay, we really want three), tell us in the comments below!

Guest Spotlight

Sandra from National Park Patch Lady joins this episode from the urban national park, Mission Espada.

Out of the 170 national parks she’s visited, Sandra shared her favorites, divided into categories:

Sandra and Dorito, her trusty Kia Soul, love to travel.  It’s a great way to unwind and ground yourself in what matters.  She says it’s easier to travel to your national parks than you think.  You can research what’s in your backyard by using this link from the National Park Service.  A great way to involve kids and teenagers is creating a photo scavenger hunt.  It may take a little research on your part, but is worth it in the end.

Ren loves fall foliage.  He uses this map to find the best places to go for colors.  Sandra added that Acadia National Park also needed to be on his list.

When planning your trip, visit the big national parks just before Memorial Day or right after Labor Day.  Florida parks are great to visit in January and February since there are less bugs.  During the summer times, she tries to visit during the week and not just during the weekends.

You can find Sandra, the National Park Patch Lady, on her website, Instagram, or Facebook.  Thanks for joining us Sandra!

Movie Madness

Whoa. Our movie game was not on point today.  We really just loved talking National Parks and only had time to mention Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite. You’re welcome for the break.  You know it will only last one episode on our podcast, so enjoy.

Food Favs

When on the road, Sandra loves to check out local food trucks or maybe some delicious new spots from Eater.

Bucket List

The movie references and food list is much shorter than normal, but this episode has made up for it with several items to add to your bucket list. Most being, you guessed it, National Parks.
